Stand up to the seal haters – come and support the seals next Sunday, April 3rd, 2pm
March 27, 2011 – 10:36 pmPlease everyone: over the past months the situation at the seal beach is getting out of control: a group of seal haters chase the seals off their rookery despite the seal pupping season, they barbecue, play Frisbee, fly kites in the middle of the nursery, and invite unaware visitors to pet the wild animals. The numbers of seal haters have grown and we see them during the weekend occupying most of the beach with chairs and umbrellas keeping vigil to keep the seals off the beach until late night hours and ganging up on our seal booth by blocking our signs and trying to intimidate the pro-seal volunteers.
We are organizing a rally of pro seal supporters next Sunday, April 3rd at 2 PM to at least have the other side down there. It was awful to see today that 20 seal haters can come into town and bully us and the seals. Please help and take stand that this sort of bullying must stop. Please tell your friends and let’s stand up to the seal haters.

This is how divers really treat the seals.

How was the turnout? Did you squash the evil people wanting to use the beach with their kids? Were you able to make a difference?

Here’s the thing guys. No one hates the seals. Not one person. Everyone likes and respects them for the wonderful creatures they are. Every time me and my friends see one above or underwater, it’s the highlight of the day. Even when I have lost fish to them, hate never came to mind, but respect for there swimming skills.
I admire where your heart and dedication on this, but do a little research before you drink the Kool aid and get on the space ship hidden behind the comet.
Check out the facts (I mean actual science based facts) and will see that there is nothing wrong with sharing the beach with our little friends here. There doing just fine and multiplying daily.

Today two dive clubs held a beach clean up and kept the general public from getting too close to the seals as they lounged away there day on the rocks and sand.
A lot of people went diving there and were escorted in and out of the Children’s Pool by some very curious and playful seals. Seals hauled themselves out and got plenty of sun and rest after there hunting sessions in the ocean. Pups nursed by there mothers were a common site and given the proper distance by all.
Great day down there to see seals that have grown accustomed to the presence of humans in a very natural environment outdoors where they belong.
The San Diego Council of Divers, San Diego Freedivers, and the Orange County Freedivers went way out of there way to clean up the beach, keep the public informed and the seals safe.
What has the Friends of Seals done other then harass, file frivolous lawsuits, take money from the tourists with lies, and violate the law as they see fit?
Oh yeah,

It really isn’t a “natural” environment. However, I am glad you enjoyed the day there.

Brian, you mean a man made beach is not natural? Are you admitting that this is not a natural beach the seals ended up on? Kind of like a children’s playground or “Pool”, so to speak, not something made for the seals in 1932 like the FOS people have been saying. That would make the whole point of the protest invalid from the FOS perspective.
