Spear fishermen camp inside the rope to stir trouble at the Seal Beach in La Jolla
December 9, 2011 – 2:10 pmOn December 15, 2011 The Animal Protection & Rescue League/ SealWatch San Diego and the La Jolla Friends of the Seals hosted a press conference at La Jolla’s Children’s Pool/Casa Beach to mark the seasonal re-installation of the pupping season rope guideline . Our probono attorney Bryan Pease explained why the current “shared use” policy does not work and criticized councilwoman Sherri Lightner for blocking the year-round rope resolution passed 6-2 by the San Diego City Council on May 17, 2010.
On Saturday, December 17, a group of spear fishermen, after chasing all seals into the ocean, set up a camp inside of the rope guideline stirring trouble and displaying guns at the Children’s Pool.

The San Diego Council of Divers and the San Diego Freedivers backed by Councilwoman Lightner camp inside the rope displaying weapons on Dec 17, 3rd day of the seal pupping season
Fox 5 has the story:
You can clearly see that this is NOT about children but the spear fishermen and hunters traveling to La Jolla from East county who want to stir trouble and ruin it for everybody.
As we are waiting for the exact date of the California Commission’s meeting regarding the year round rope guideline permit which will most likely happen in February or March, we are asking you to support our daily efforts to protect the seals at Casa Beach:

On December 8th, we have met with the the representatives of NOAA and Park and Rec department who introduced the new Children’s Pool ranger, Richard Belesky. Rich started patrolling Seal Beach a few weeks ago with a goal of keeping the peace, educating the public and enforcing the current City policy of “joint use” = beach fully open to the public. The City Council’s vote to close the beach during seal pupping season December 15-May 15 each year is not being processed due to budget cuts. We don’t fully understand why $25,000-$50,000 is estimated to be spent on the permit as it is an internal process (clerks are already employed and the California Coastal Commission does not charge for their permits). We have asked the City for specifics working closely with the La Jolla Friends of the Seals on this matter and will let you know more as soon as we receive the specifics.

I don’t care what problems the seals cause. I like them and want to look at them all day long every day. The seals chose this beach so we should give it to them. I say they were here first, so they were. It doesn’t matter if the seals eat all of the other marine life because I can’t see it from the sidewalk. If you don’t like it you can go to another beach. This is a small beach anyway. This is definitely educational for children. Where else can they see seals and not have to pay or drive a hundred miles. There should be as many seals as there can be even if it makes them all sick and all of the people who come to see the seals.

Wow, after all this time, someone’s feelings (Dan Byrnes) are still so hurt by me that they felt the need to pose as me on this comment board. Damn, Dan, I really got to you didnt, I?
I mean, I could laugh at the fact that youre eternally upset about some seals on a beach. I could laugh at the fact that you’re a 40-year-old virgin who lives his entire life on a website that he hates.
But instead, I’m just going to focus on the fact that you’re such a sensitive crybaby that after all this time, you’re still posing as me. Thanks for being my bltch.
